Clean NGO Website

A corporate but warm site for a non-profit with impact numbers, donation flow, volunteer form and annual reports.

Clean Corporate

01

App overview and objectives

A non-profit site built for two jobs: convert a visitor into a donor in under a minute, and prove where the previous money went. Programmes, impact data, donation flow and full transparency.

02

The problem worth solving

Donor trust is the binding constraint on non-profit growth. Publishing spending breakdowns and outcome data alongside the donate button raises both conversion and repeat giving.

03

Target audience

  • Primary — Individual donors deciding between causes.
  • Secondary — Institutional funders, volunteers and beneficiaries seeking services.

04

Roles and permissions

  • Visitor — read-only public pages, can sign up.
  • Member — owns their own records, cannot see other users' data.

05

Core features

  • One-minute donation flow with one-off and monthly options and preset amounts
  • Programme pages with objectives, locations and outcome metrics
  • Impact page: money in, money out, outcomes delivered, with annual reports
  • Volunteer sign-up with role matching
  • Stories from the field with consent-respecting media
  • Multi-language and low-bandwidth support

Deliberately later

  • Donor portal with giving history and tax receipts
  • Peer-to-peer fundraising
  • Corporate partnership portal

06

Technical stack

Static-rendered content with a payment provider for donations and a small CMS for programmes and stories.

Why: Donation spikes follow campaigns and news; static pages plus a hosted payment flow stay up when traffic multiplies overnight.

Alternatives: A fundraising platform (fast, high fees and a borrowed brand) or a custom donation stack (lower fees, real compliance burden).

07

Conceptual data model

Programme — name, description, locations, objectives, metrics, budget

Donation — donor, amount, frequency, designation, provider reference, receipt

Volunteer — name, skills, availability, matched role, status

Story — programme, narrative, media, consent record, published_at

ImpactMetric — programme, indicator, period, value, verification source

08

Integrations

  • Payment provider with recurring support
  • Email for receipts and updates
  • Accounting export
  • Map for programme locations

09

UI design principles

  • Predictable structure, strong trust signals, consistent 8px spacing rhythm.
  • Restrained brand colour on actions only; neutral surfaces everywhere else.
  • Fast, accessible, and boring in the best way — nothing gets in the user's path.

10

Security considerations

  • No card data touches your servers; use hosted payment fields.
  • Beneficiary images and stories require recorded informed consent, with an option to withdraw.
  • Donor data never shared or sold; state this plainly on the donate page.

12

Challenges and solutions

Risk — Donation abandonment

Solution — Preset amounts, no forced account creation, one screen, and wallet payment options.

Risk — Impact claims cannot be verified

Solution — Publish method and source for every metric and mark estimates as estimates.

Risk — Recurring donor churn

Solution — Send a short quarterly outcome update tied to the exact programme the donor supports.

13

Future expansion

  • Grant management module
  • Beneficiary feedback loops
  • Chapter sites for regional teams
